The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Nov. 14/2020
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ring.” Use it as a noun, a verb, an adverb, or an adjective…use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

I found myself divorced and I still possessed the wedding ring. I didn’t know what to do with it. I have been divorced 21 years and that stupid ring is till sitting in front of my face on my computer desk shelf. I tried to sell it, but it wasn’t worth anything. That should tell you something right there. It was a gold band with diamond chips all the way around. I didn’t have a real engagement ring and set because the first one we got was dirt cheap and you could almost break the metal by twisting it. My ex lost his ring almost immediately whether on purpose or not I still don’t now. So he bought me this second ring and it wasn’t worth crap either. So here it sits. I can’t bring myself to toss it and it isn’t worth anything and so I torment myself by looking at the ring box.
I remember just before we got divorced that I had been at work and the ring was loose and I tossed scrap plastic in the bin and the ring went flying. I had them shut the line down while I looked for it piece by piece in the scrap bin. Several people helped me and I couldn’t find it and I started to cry (obviously I still had feelings about the upcoming divorce). They got ready to start the line up again and just then I picked up some scrap to put back in the bin and the ring was caught up in the pile of containers. Talk about relief. I don’t know why I am so attached to the stupid ring. I could care less about the man who gave it to me.
