Your three words today are:
RAVAGE
DEVOUR
DETOUR

***************

The rabid creatures ravaged the human parts left behind by their leader after he had his fill of the bloody human flesh. They began to devour the parts they were able to take off of the others in the pack. They were fighting with each other over what little remained. The ground was a bloody mess strewn with bits of bloody human flesh.

Once he has his fill, the leader detoured around the lowly creatures still fighting over the remains. He would move on to look for other humans to devour for his next meal. Finding humans to feed on was getting harder all the time. The human population was not reproducing fast enough and the leader knew he would have to move on to another location to satisfy his and his followers needs.

FOWC with Fandango — Fuel and Word of the Day Challenge – Neglected Plus The Three Things Challenge

Fandango’s Rules For the One Word Challenge

FOWC

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.). Today’s word is FUEL.

I am also using The Word Of The Day Challenge – Neglected

I am also using the Three Things Challenge for today #M699.

Your three words today are:
YANK
YIELD
YESTERDAY

**********

Yesterday, during our barbeque, we encountered a fuel crisis. It turns out that Ronny, the one responsible for checking the propane tank, had neglected to do so when I asked him to last week. As a result, we found ourselves with a yard full of guests and a non-functional grill.I had to yank the tank out of the holder on the side of the grill, willing it to yield to my tugging. I finally managed to get it out and had Dave run to the local propane filling station to fill it up. Thankfully, they were open, and we had our barbeque without further problems.

Your three words today are:
JUVENILE
JINX
JAUNT

***************

The residents here might be in the age range of 62 to 99, but most of them act very juvenile. They are frequently throwing temper tantrums just like children do.

Your final three words for this week are:
SMOKE
STREAM
MISTY

***************

The area around the stream seemed misty. Oh wait, that might be smoke instead. We lived near a national forest and I had heard that there were forest fires and this could be smoke from that fire and not mist.

Opening the door and heading outside towards the stream, I noticed the smell of smoke and that settled the question of whether it was mist or smoke. Hopefully the fires won’t get too close to us.

I managed to catch the ball my friend tossed to me, but then I dropped it. I didn’t used to fumble the ball while playing catch. Age is catching up to me.

Bridal and Baby Showers

By Tessa Dean May 2024

A tradition, in America anyhow, is at the baby or bridal shower, a hat is made from a paper plate, and all the ribbons, bows, and streamers from the presents and decorations. The the bride-to-be or the mother-to-be wears the hat while everyone takes pictures.

Parade

By Tessa Dean May 2024

We stood around my mother’s hospital bed, knowing she was about to pass on. None of us felt like celebrating right now, but she wouldn’t want us to be sad at her passing. The nurse had warned us that her time was near. They knew the signs. We had been hurrying to get out of the hospital before the parade started and we were stuck in the crowds and couldn’t get out to go home. Now here we were watching the parade and the partying going on down below while we waited for her to take her last breath.

She suddenly took a huge breath and seemed to be rallying, but it was simply her body taking its last breath. My sister ran down the hall to the nurse’s station and brought the doctor back with her. He confirmed she had passed on.

The parade continued, but we were now oblivious to it all. She had gone out with a bang and I think she would have liked that. If you believe in such things, she might have even planned it that way.

Look Out She’s Coming

By Tessa Dean May 2024

I hate having to avoid some of the residents where I live, but some of them I need to evade their advances towards me. Sometimes I have to sidestep to avoid them as they head directly to me intent on invading my space.

There is one pervert who constantly eyes the women and then comes right up to them and says, “I’m available!”

Eww, no one wants to be anywhere near this guy. He is most disgusting and preys on any woman he thinks might fall for his line. None of us want to be bothered.

Email

By Tessa Dean May 2024

My email assured me that I was the winner of a prime lot in Arkansas and all I had to do was mail them a check for $5000.00. They would have to prise my fingers off my check book for that to happen. The spam was ridiculous in my email account.

Trees

By Tessa Dean May 2024

Our lot back along the lake contained a huge area of trees including Birch, Oak and Elms as well as Dogwood Trees. Spring was always pretty when the Dogwood Trees would blossom. However, they only last a few weeks and then the blossoms drop onto the ground and make a mess. Fall is the worse though as all those trees have leaves that fall off and litter the ground. We rake the area around the house, but the trees on the perimeter just litter the ground and build up. We also dump our raked up leaves in this area as well which tends to make those piles larger. Oh well, there was no where else to take them as we lived at least a half a mile off the road where they actually picked up the raked leaves. Too far for us to drag them so into the wooded area they went.
