I also offer a ‘Gratitude Section’ for those who like a little affirmation with their questions!  It’s always optional to participate in that portion of  SYW of course.

Here are my questions for this week:

1. As a child, did you prefer to watch TV, play games outside on a nice day, or read? Read that is all I ever wanted to do, but my parents would push me out the door and lock it and make me play with the other kids.

2. What would you rather do now, read a book, watch a movie at home, dine out with friends, or go down the pub? Read a book once I am done the prompts for the day.

3. Are you fashion conscious? No, I live in jogging pants and T-shirts.

4. Do you wear slippers, clogs or go barefoot indoors? I was always barefoot until I moved into a place with no carpet and cold floors. Now I wear slippers all day, even out to the dining room. Only put on shoes to go outside.

My questions this week then are:

1.   Does the weather affect your mood? Yes, I find a cold, rainy/snowy day to be very depressing.

2.   If a stranger smiles at you or says ‘good morning’ when they pass you in the street, do you return it? Yes, I certainly do.

3.   If you had a choice of just one of these things to eat, what would it be and why?
Chocolate, a sweet pastry, a plate of chips/fries (this is not a forever choice, just one instance). A sweet pastry and a sweet pastry can contain chocolate a two for one deal.

4.  If you could go back to when you were a specific age, what would that be? Why? 21 because I had my first baby, and my marriage had not totally imploded yet.

My questions this week then are:

1. Do you consider friends an extension of your family? I consider some friends an extension of my family, but not all of them. Best friends would be considered family, but a friend from work wouldn’t be most likely.

2. Would you confide in a friend more than you would a family member? In some cases, that would be a definite yes. Sometimes you need to talk to someone other than family since it might be about them, and you would get a more subjective answer that wouldn’t hurt a family member’s feelings.

3. How long have you known your best friend? Around 15 to 20 years.

4. Do you believe distance has a negative effect on friendships? Yes, I do. My best friend before the move and the pandemic I saw every week, and we had breakfast together, but now I probably won’t ever see her again as she is quite a bit older than me and won’t drive to see me, and I won’t be driving either.

Non-Fiction, Prompt, Share Your World

Share Your World improvised: Just in Case

Di standing in for Melanie:

I’m aware Melanie has been having some computer problems and I’m late accessing my blog today but can see no Share Your World for today, so I’m jumping in Just in Case.
Melanie usually asks four questions  and you can join in either by writing your own post and pingback to this one, or leave your responses in the comments. She always offers a gratitude section so I am staying with that too.

So, my questions are:

1.  When you go food shopping, do you go with a list or amble down the aisles putting things in your basket or cart that you fancy or think you need? I haven’t grocery shopped in ages. Before moving to the facility where they provide 3 meals I was having my groceries delivered to me because I couldn’t physically shop anymore.

2.  When the temperatures drop for the colder months, is there a specific date you put the heating on or do you flick the switch when you start to feel cold? No date. I turn it on when I need it.

3. Keeping with the cold theme, do you prefer a hot water bottle or an electric blanket at night? I have neither.

4.  How do you feel about log burners? Do you think they are messy or cosy? I am not sure what these are. If they are the logs you can buy and just light for a quick fire, I have to say they are useful for getting a good fire going fast.

Non-Fiction, Prompt, Share Your World

Share Your World (19th September plus 1)

Di’s Rules:

SYW is a day late this week because of our Queen’s funeral yesterday.

I am pleased to hear that Melanie is on the road to recovery, but I am still your temporary host for Share Your World.
There are two ways in which you can participate:

Create a Share Your World post.

  • Leave your answers in the comments box of this post or write your own post.
  • To make it easy for others to check out your post, title your blog post “Share Your World” and link it to this post.
  • Ping-backs are activated, but don’t always work properly.  I think it is best to leave a link in a comment, just to be sure.  It’s okay to just leave the link if you like and don’t have anything else to chat about. If you’d still like to try leaving a ping-back,  instructions on how ping-backs work are found by clicking here.  Thanks!

I also offer a ‘Gratitude Section’ for those who like a little affirmation with their questions!  It’s always optional to participate in that portion of  SYW of course.

I’m sticking with Melanie’s format and the gratitude section too so here are this week’s questions:

1.   Are you an early riser or late starter to the day? Late starter. I hate early mornings. Morning to me is lunch time or later, but now that I am in the assisted living facility I must get up early for breakfast. Those are the rules.

2.  Do you adopt Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a prince and Dine like a Pauper? No I prefer to eat heartily for any meal I have.
3.  Do you have a sweet or savoury tooth? Sweet tooth!

4.  Would you prefer a hot relaxing bath or a massage (remember, family friendly people!)? A massage since baths are no longer an option for this disabled body. I used to love long hot baths.

I will post four or five different questions each week for you to answer.  Additionally, I offer a ‘Gratitude’ Section for those who like a little affirmation with their questions!  It’s optional to participate in that of course.

There are two ways in which you can participate:

  1. Create a Share Your World post.
  2. Then post the link to that blog post.
  3. Alternatively, leave your answers in the comments box of this post.
  4. To make it easy for others to check out your post, title your blog post “Share Your World”  and link it to this post.
  5. Ping-backs are activated, but how efficiently varies.  I don’t manually approve them, but sometimes they don’t show up immediately.  Why that happens is an unsolved mystery.   For instructions on how ping-backs work, in case you weren’t certain, please click here.  You may wish to leave a link to your blog post in the comments just to be sure.  Thanks!
  6. Some questions might be recycled from time to time.  Sorry if they come too close together!  The number of interesting questions (to me) is finite.   I try to mix them up judiciously but bungle that sometimes.  Mea culpa!

QUESTIONS

Do you believe in soul-mates?  (my definition of ‘soul mate’ is the IDEAL partner romantically). No can’t say that I do. Or at least I have not met him in my 65 years of life. Even my marriage was a disaster.

What are three scents you like? Cinnamon, lilac, and pumpkin pie spice

What are some things that you might be considered too old to do, but that you enjoy? Streaming live on YouTube. I enjoy it, but some people don’t like it considering the recent hate raids on Twitch.

What is one food you absolutely refuse to share? Seafood of any kind and ice cream. I know that is two, but no sharesies.

QUESTIONS      (a random bag today)

Can you parallel park (if you drive)? Yes occasionally. It really depends on the area and how much room is available. I hate to do it though.  If you don’t drive, can you still skip? Can’t skip and that is obvious since when I broke my foot I couldn’t do crutches and had to go to a rehab until I got a walking boot.

Do you prefer early morning or late evening?  Or something in between? I prefer the middle of the night. I am a night owl.

Do you like avocados? NOOOOOOOOO!

Is mind or matter more real? I guess it depends although I would say matter is more tangible than mind.

and a bonus ‘deep’ question just because

Are people in this current generation less or more sensitive than people from past generations? Less sensitive and more “me me me.”

QUESTIONS

Restrictions are being lifted all over the world.  Do you feel it’s safe to go out and mingle in crowds in light of the Pandemic? No I do NOT! I think that is one of the biggest mistakes we can make. The current rise in the Pandemic is something I knew would happen when they raised the bans and stopped requiring masks. People don’t have the sense they were born with it seems. I could pretty much predict everything that has happened so far and we are not out of the woods.

What are some things that are okay to do occasionally,  but definitely not okay to do every day? Eat a ton of ice cream. I don’t know when to stop.

Would you relocate for love (romantic or otherwise)? I moved with my now ex-husband when he went into the Marine Corps. Now it would depend on the situation.

Do you believe in any conspiracy theories (no judgment)? Yes and there are plenty out there about the virus and the government and I very much believe in some of it being true.
