Yesterday, during our barbeque, we encountered a fuel crisis. It turns out that Ronny, the one responsible for checking the propane tank, had neglected to do so when I asked him to last week. As a result, we found ourselves with a yard full of guests and a non-functional grill.I had to yank the tank out of the holder on the side of the grill, willing it to yield to my tugging. I finally managed to get it out and had Dave run to the local propane filling station to fill it up. Thankfully, they were open, and we had our barbeque without further problems.

I felt righteous indignation as I watched the residents who did not follow the rules and come to dinner on our seating. Every day, three times a day, they come to the first sitting for the meals and they are supposed to be at the second sitting. Some of the people don’t feel that the rules pertain to them. And when they are told their response is that nobody told them which is a downright lie. The staff is tired of telling them so they let them get away with it and it really makes me mad. Why have rules if you aren’t going to enforce them? Some of the staff will force them to leave, but when they can get away with it, they do. Watching them get away with it really ruins my meal for me. I believe strongly that rules should be enforced.

The jeweler laid the silver rings, bracelets and necklaces out on the velvet cloth so I could examine them more closely. I preferred silver to gold and fully intended to buy one of each for the ball being held at the local hotel next week.

100% cotton! The tag assured me it was pure cotton. I try not to purchase items that are made with 100% cotton since they shrink. I held the item in my hand while I tried to decide if it was worth trying. When they are 100% cotton I usually buy them a size too large so I have room for shrinkage, but sometimes that backfires on me and doesn’t shrink and I end up with a too large garment. I put the garment back and move on.

I used to be strong for a woman. I worked in a factory for many years and I was able to lift up my own pallets and load them onto the rails where we would push the full pallet out to the train that came around and picked up the full pallets of packed product.

I also worked up to being able to lift the large, heavy boxes of product and lift them up over my head onto the top layer of packed product. They were heavy and awkward.

And what used to tickle me most was all that heavy workout on my upper body allowed me to do more masculine pushups then the new men coming into the job. One guy actually made me show him that I could do more than he could. He quit before I did. Everyone watching clapped. He was embarrassed. I warned him, but he thought I was kidding with him. I was simply a woman, the supposedly weaker sex. Well I showed him!

Many little girls beg their parents to let them take ballet lessons. Although it might have crossed my mind at some point as a child, my parents couldn’t afford the lessons, let alone all the costumes required for the recitals. The only recital I had ever attended was one that featured my granddaughter.

The pervert traveled the halls on his motorized wheelchair and would stare at the women with an arrogant expression, followed by the words, “I am available!”

The women can barely control their disgust at his actions. Their reactions don’t bother him at all. He spends every day followng women around and getting in their faces with his declaration of “I’m available!”

Reporting him to management does no good. Sadly he is not the only pervert at the home.

I was miffed at my fellow resident who openly broke the rules. She claimed three times a day that she didn’t know she was on the second seating of the meals. She was told at every meal that it wasn’t her time, but there she was again. She had already been told twice this meal, by different people that it wasn’t time and again she said, “I didn’t know there was a change!” I am sick of it. The staff is sick of it. She pleads memory issues, but she can be there at her old time every single time, but she still claims that no one has told her. She is not the only one. There is about 6 of them that continually come at the wrong time and claim they didn’t know. They make rules here and then don’t follow them for everyone. Some people are just priviliged. It’s not fair. And yes, I know, life is not fair. I learned that a long time ago. If that had been me flouting the rules I would be taken to task for it, but not everyone has to follow them. When I told her today she told me I was a horrible person. All because I reminded her of the new seating rule. She usually acts real nice, but it is all for show. I hate the atmosphere here.
