The Widow’s Surprise
By Tessa Dean November 2020
Sarah sniffed daintily into her handkerchief, faking tears, glancing out of the corner of her eyes as the lawyer prepared to read the will for her dearly departed husband. Who was the young, blond woman sitting next to her step-daughter?
The lawyer started to read the will. Sarah noticed the pretty young thing sitting up straighter. “I bequeath all of my belongings and financial wealth to my girlfriend, Paige Weatherspoon.”
“What,” Sarah shrieked and launched herself out of her chair. Her step-daughter laughed, “Gotcha, bitch!”
