Memory Issues
By Tessa Dean May 2024
The levity at lunchtime was marred by the staff yelling at the people who did not belong in the current seating. We now have 2 sittings and some of the people insist on coming to the wrong one and claim memory issues are stopping them from remembering what time it is they eat. They are told at least 3 meals a day and sometimes 2 or 3 times during one meal that they don’t belong there. When enforced they join the long line in fromt of the door and just stare at us eating which upsets a lot of people.
The notice that was given out should have been more specific. Its brevity caused some confusion initially, but aside from these few residents who refuse to follow the rules, the others finally got it all straightened out and now come at the correct time.
I reminded two of them this morning that they were early and one of them called me a horrible person. She always acts super sweet, but I am seeing another side to her now. She can be nasty.

This sounds worse than school dinners. At the beginning of each week, you purchased five tickets and each day was a different colour. We had two sittings, the juniors first, then seniors. The final meal I had was disgraceful, mashed potatoes with egg yolks on top and salad followed by whipped egg whites and a handful of chopped glace cherries. I went home and told my parents not to waste their money ( they were struggling but I didn’t qualify for free school meals) and took sandwiches after that.

I hated taking my lunch to school. I preferred the school lunch but I and my children did not qualify for free lunches or breakfasts.
